#### Dacrydium Elatum. An essential oil can be produced by steam distillation from the wood of this conifer. This essential oil seems to have disappeared from the world market since 1952*, *like so many other products from the former French Indochina. The tree grows in the northern parts of that country, previously known as Tonkin, and this particular species does not seem to be known outside of that area. A number of related conifers from neighboring areas yield other interesting essential oils, see **Huon Pine Wood Oil **and **Siam Wood Oil**. The essential oil of **Dacrydium**** ****Elatum**** **is a dark, yellow-brownish liquid of dry-balsamic, woody odor, reminiscent of crude Virginia cedarwood oil. The yield by steam distillation is very good and it is most likely that the oil still serves as a soap perfume and household article perfume ingredient on the local market. The author has no recent experience with the essential oil of **Dacrydium**** ****Elatum**.
